History[]
Bruce Thomas Wayne (born February, 1974) lived a very normal and very good life as the only child of wealthy Gotham couple doctor Thomas Wayne and his socialite wife Martha. That is until tragedy struck. Shortly after Bruce turned eight years old he and his parents went out one night to the movies to see a showing of the film Mask of Zorro and on their way home they were accosted by a mugger by the name of Joe Chill who demanded all of their valuables. However Martha Wayne would not give up her pearls. This in turn aggravated chill who got forceful with Martha, forcing Thomas to step in to protect his wife. In the ensuing chaos Chill shot and killed both Thomas and Martha Wayne, leaving a deep trauma within the young Bruce that would spur him onward down a path he would walk for most of his adult life.
In the aftermath of the death of his parents Bruce was taken care of by the Wayne family butler, his legal guardian, and the man that would become like a second father to him, Alfred Pennyworth. It was also during this time Bruce came into contact with others that would assist him in his future endeavors, like the then detective Jim Gordon and Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Though no one, not even Bruce himself knew this would be the case at the time. All the young Wayne knew was that his parents were gone and he wanted to make the man responsible pay. So doing all he could be convinced Alfred to assist him in his quest to track down Chill. Which the pair managed to accomplish after two years of rigorous searching. Only for the cops to arrive before they could get their hands on Joe, and for him to kill himself rather than being taken in alive. Once again leaving Bruce with a deep impression. One that made him take on the self-imposed duty of ridding Gotham City of the crime and corruption that lead to his parents being taken away from him. So that no one would have to experience the same pain he felt ever again. Thus at age 14 Bruce began a global sojourn to acquire the skills necessary to complete his quest of ridding Gotham of crime.
He first began his journey by visiting several European universities such as Cambridge and the Sorbonne, only taking classes that interested him and suited his future plans. Typically dropping out after one semester at each school. Bruce then went on to study multiple martial-art and combat styles from different instructors across the globe. Which included legendary boxing champion and Justice Society of America member Ted Grant, as well as the father of his future adopted daughter Cassandra, David Cain one of the world's most premiere assassins. From traditional healing methods under Nepalese monks, to big game hunting in Africa, to archery, and even detective skills, Bruce trained all these skills and more. During his journey he even studied the mystical arts, specifically ways to detect and counter them under the true magic user Giovanni Zatara, father of the future heroine Zatanna Zatara, who Bruce would eventually come to see as a little sister figure. Though the young Wayne's greatest form of training came when he joined the ancient and powerful League of Assassin's and met the man who would become one of his greatest teachers, as well as one of his greatest future adversaries, the Demon's Head Ra's al Ghul. He was a man who showed Bruce many things, but in the end he could not follow the man's ideals nor his ways. Thus the two had a falling out and an epic battle ensued when Bruce finally took his leave of the League. Which he had hardly any regrets about, save for leaving one of Ra's daughter who he had grown particularly close too, Talia Al Ghul. Who would in fact become a stable figure in Bruce's life for decades to come, whether he wanted it or not.
After his exit from the League of Assassin's Bruce returned to Gotham city after over a decade of intense training at the age of 25. Once he did he began making the final preparations to finally begin his personal crusade, which entailed fashioning a costume based on that of a bat. For Bruce realized to truly make a difference he would need the criminals he went after to fear him, and taking his own childhood fear of bats he fashioned it into a weapon. Thus with this the costumed caped crusader that would come to be known as the Batman was finally born. However just because Bruce has the skills, resources, and training to make his crusade a reality didn't mean he would immediately get results.
No in fact in the early months of his career as Batman Bruce made several mistakes. But he immediately learned from them. Eventually becoming a symbol of hope to the people of Gotham, and one of fear to its criminals. He even earned himself allies within Gotham legal system, which never truly acknowledged Batman nor his actions, such as then Police commissioner James Gordon and then district attorney Harvey Dent. The three of them coming together to work to truly clean up Gotham City and make a difference.
But that task would not be easy and only prove more difficult as time went on. Bruce himself realizing it more than anyone as he continually came face to face with all manner of criminals. From crime bosses like Rupert Thorne and Roman Sionis aka Black Mask, to psychotic killers the Calendar Man and Victor Zssaz, to his own gallery of costumed and superpowered foes such as Scarecrow, Clayface, Firefly, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, Mister Freeze, and even his old friend and once ally Harvey Dent who became the villainous Two-Face. Along with many more. Bruce even repeatedly tangled with assassins like the marksman Deadshot and the ruthless venom-user Bane. Though they, and no other foe he faced, could compare to his greatest enemy, who broke him time and time again, the psychotic Clown Prince of Crime known simply as The Joker.
Though with all the darkness Bruce he also found the light in the form of the friends he made, and the family he created, during his years as the Dark Knight. The first of which was his stalwart butler Alfred Pennyworth, while the next was the brilliant Lucius Fox. Then the next came in the form of a young boy who Bruce felt a kinship with and thus not only adopted him as his son, but also made him partner in fighting crime. The boys name, Richard Grayson. Who would create, and, become the first to wear, the mantle of Batman's constant sidekick Robin. Next in the line of Bruce's crime fighting companions came commissioner Gordon's own daughter, Barbara Gordon who herself created the mantle of Batgirl. Turning the dynamic duo into a formidable trio. Though those days soon came to an end.

Batman & Robin
Upon reaching early adulthood Dick hung up the mantle of Robin and created the persona of Nightwing. He also ended up estranged with Bruce for some time. Especially when Dick learned he had been replaced by another. A brash, headstrong, angry, yet also gifted boy named Jason Todd. Whom Bruce also made his son, and also tried to help like Dick. Which was definitely a lot more trying. Especially when in the Spring of 2008 the Bat Clan experienced one of its worst tragedies ever. For that is when the Joker attacked Barbara in her civilian life, shooting her and leaving her permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
This tragic event awakened a deep darkness, along with immense feelings of guilt and sadness, in the Dark Knight. These emotions only expanded on in early 2010 when the Joker murdered Jason. An event Bruce would come to view as his greatest failure for the rest of his days.

The tragedies of Barbara and Jason, one after the other, caused Bruce to become much more brutal when donning his cape and cowl. He also began isolating himself from others, even Alfred and Dick. Who could see just what kind of path Bruce was starting to walk down. Though no matter what they did neither could get him off it. No, that honor would go to a young man who would become the third Robin, a boy named Timothy Drake. Who managed to drag his future mentor and father figure back onto the proper path.
Following this the Batman family suddenly went through what would be its greatest expansion ever. As the likes of Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Luke Fox, Bruce's own cousin Kate Kane, and Duke Thomas joined in Batman's mission to protect the city of Gotham.
Along with the feline-themed thief Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. Whom Bruce not only revealed his identity too, but also entered into a committed and serious relationship with in the Autumn of 2014, due to the events of "Blackest Night" which he experienced near the beginning of that year. Leading Bruce to change his lease on life a bit. One Selina was more than happy to help him with. Given their on and off again relationship over the years. Leading Bruce to feel a sense of peace.

The Cat & The Bat
But that sense was short lived as in the latter half of 2015 he came face to face with the mysterious anti-hero and vigilant Red Hood. Who he discovered was none other than his former partner Jason, who had been brought back from the dead years ago by Ra's al Ghul using the Lazarus Pit. Which led to an extremely tense confrontation between the two of them. Which although was resolved in the end, led to an awkwardness in the two's relationship that wouldn't be resolved for years to come.
Though that didn't stop Bruce from inviting Jason to his and Selina wedding, which took place in early 2016. Nor the birth of his daughter, Helena Wayne, in winter that same year. An event that only strengthened Bruce's resolve to make the world a better place, despite him getting up there in years.
Especially after the rather difficult birth Selina experienced when bringing her and Bruce's second child, their son, into the world in the summer of 2018. With that the thought of hanging up his cowl actually began creeping is way into Bruce's mind. But that all changed when the Crisis on Infinite Earth began in late 2019. After those harrowing events, and the loss of his teammate and friend Barry Allen during them, Bruce realized he still had much to do as the Batman. An action his family supported him in.
Though that did get extremely challenging in 2022, when there was an uptake in anti-vigilante and anti-superhuman sentiment worldwide. One which for a short time saw Batman and his family targeted by more enemies than ever before. Including the mysterious Court of Owls. Who in fact Bruce discovered had orchestrated the deaths of his parents decades earlier since they wouldn't join them. Making destroying them and their plans all the more easier.
But despite prevailing over the Court Bruce didn't have any time to rest as he and his allies in the Justice League faced down the combined might of Lex Luthor and Brainiac in a climatic battle which gave them back their friend Barry Allen. Making it an overall good day in Batman's book.
Yet even after this and everything else he has experienced in his years of crime fighting nothing could've prepared Bruce for the shock he got in Spring 2025, when his ex-lover Talia showed up with a young boy named Damian that was apparently his and Talia's son. Who she secretly worked to conceive years earlier and kept hidden from Bruce for most of his young life. A revelation that shook Gotham's protector to his very core. But in the end he triumphed over this hurdle as well and in the end he won over Damian, who in turn became the fourth to wear the mantle of Robin. Yet despite overcoming this challenge Bruce's greatest to come.
One that didn't occur until mid 2029 when what would become known as the Leviathan War. Where Talia al Ghul now leading her own organization known as Leviathan initiated the kidnapping of Bruce to brainwash him, and the organization of all inmates of Arkham Asylum into an army. One she would use to finally destroy Gotham, like her father had tried to force decades. Making Bruce stand at her side in the process. But in the end Talia's plan failed as all of allies Batman had made over his three decades of crime fighting came together to aid him, and with their support he broke free from Talia's control and finally saw her meet her end. He also finally ended the Jokers life with his own two hands. Bringing their decades long battle to an ultimate close. As well as Bruce's time as Batman. For after the battle he finally hung up his cape and cowl, after three decades, and focused on raising his children alongside Selina. Confident that Gotham was in good hands.
