History
Donna Troy is the younger sister of Wonder Woman and the first to take up the mantle of Wonder Girl. With a deep sense of curiosity, she'd ran away several times as a teenage girl to find out more about man's world, but she was always either caught or accidentally caused trouble. However she learned from those experiences and ended up becoming one of the founders and secondary leader of the Teen Titans. She took up the mantle of Troia after she outgrew the Wonder Girl mantle. She is the wife of Roy Harper, and the mother of Lian Harper.
Early Life
Donna Troy was born on the island of Themyscira, in the Caribbean Sea. Her mother was Queen Hippolyta II of the Amazons, while her father was Zeus, king of the Gods of Olympus. He saw the need for new Greek heroes on par with Hercules and Achilles, but he also saw the need for the women's movement in the Western World. Since no man was allowed to be born on Themyscira as decreed by the gods, Hippolyta gave birth to two beautiful girls: the first was Diana, and the other, born 5 years later was Donna.
As a little girl, Donna looked up to her older sister, Diana, seeing her as a role model for both a proper princess and as a warrior. However, she also felt as if she was being held back and wanted to know more about the world than just what she was taught by her family. This sense of curiosity was present throughout her life, and led up to one of the biggest affects on her.
Running Away from Home
One day, when Donna was only 13, a U.S. Air Force pilot named Steve Trevor crash landed on Themyscira and was found by the Amazons. Queen Hippolyta was disgusted with how vulgar mortals had become, after the Amazons' experiences in the Trojan War centuries ago. However, she decreed that there would be a trial by combat to see who would be able to lead Steve Trevor back home to America. Donna insisted to go, but her mother refused, fearing for her safety, despite the fact that Diana was allowed to participate in the trial. Angered, Donna decided that if she was going to find out about the outside world, then she'd find out for herself, and ran away from home for the first time.
By the time everyone realized she was gone, Diana had won the trial by combat and was chosen to take Steve Trevor back to America. Yet while Diana was taking Steve to Washington DC, Donna ended up on a Mohawk reservation in Upstate New York. The Iroquois approached her without fear, and on her part, Donna assured them every ounce of friendship. However, when Cronos the Titan and his siblings freed themselves from the depths of Tartarus, it was partially because Donna had caused the whole thing by invoking a Bronze Age style Minoan prayer.
Feeling bad that she caused all this trouble, she joined the Amazons in combat, donning a red jumpsuit with yellow stars emblazoned on it, and adamantine vambraces like her sister wore, as well as a sword to kill Cronos' underlings. Upon winning the battle, Donna was grounded, but seeing her bravery and determination, Diana allowed her to occasionally join her in combat. Since her older sister took on the name "Wonder Woman", Donna chose to take on the mantle of "Wonder Girl".
