Hundreds of thousands of years ago on a younger Krypton, a biological organism was artificially created by a spiteful yet obsessive and paranoid war-torn scientist with the goal of creating the perfect lifeform, one that would survive and adapt to all existing conditions and environments that usually endanger life and obstruct the evolution of any creature. However, another Kryptonian figure from the same council intended for this organism to be perfected in hopes that Kryptonian armed forces could weaponize it against rival empires and hostile colonies, or even opposing factions within Krypton, if tensions between them would ever rise in a worst-case scenario. However, the persisting internal conflict within the Council would only lead to the experiment going amiss as the organism would undergo death and resurrection over and over again in the process until it would gain enough sentience with one main impulse driving its mind: irrational hatred towards life itself.

Feared across the cosmos due to its bloodlust towards any living creature in its path and its natural ability to come back and constantly evolve from whatever factor has killed it before, this living abomination would later be named and known by various cultures across the universe by many names. On Earth, the monster would be known as Doomsday, most particularly due to its gruesome notable feat of having once killed humanity's strongest protector, the Kryptonian Superman, who was also responsible for one of the creature's major deaths.

Notes

Doomsday has no definite sex or gender and was often referred to as "he/him" or "it," with the latter's reasoning being due to how others simply could not see or treat it as a human being or mortal for harboring a primitive insatiable hatred for life except its own.
Doomsday arrived on Earth in July 2012, a few days before Superman's real birthday. Among the notable factors it was named Doomsday by Booster Gold is due to how the creature's irrational hatred for all life and its immeasurable strength rivaling Superman's might've almost cause the prophesized apocalyptic event on Earth if it wasn't for Doomsday's eventual defeat.
- Its feat of killing Superman even made most of the media to also call the hero's date of death as Doomsday or the Day of Doom, even after the superhero's resurrection and return to the public almost a year later.

Trivia

Before its creation at the hands of Bertron and Dax-Baron, Doomsday was prophesized by Kryptonian legends and folk tales through interpretations of a monstrous creature or entity that was, at times, considered a feared or worshipped devil figure by certain sects of Kryptonian religions.
In spite of its apparent diminished intellect, Doomsday is capable of learning and speaking other species' languages, albeit in shorter sentences. It took a few years since its death at the hands of Superman for the monster to speak to its adversaries in a comprehensive manner.
