Born into a strange household Hunter Zolomon (born June, 1986) found himself growing up with parents that rarely spoke to him, or even to each other. The young Hunter never getting a straight answer as to why this was the case. That is until one night, shortly after his eleventh birthday, he ended up going downstairs after his bedtime and witnessed his father physically abusing his mother. Who when she noticed him pleaded with Hunter to run, only for his father to catch him and then start abusing him as well. This went on for several years until one day when he was eighteen years old and returned home from school, only to find the police outside his house and both his parents dead. He soon learned that this was because his father was in fact a serial killer, and that when his mother informed the police of this he killed her, and then got himself killed by the police after refusing to give up once they cornered him. This news devastated the young Hunter. But it also sparked within him a deep urge to understand the criminal mind and psyche, leading to him studying psychology and criminology while in college. During which time he met and started dating a fellow student named Ashley Fox. The two of them getting married, and both joining the FBI right after graduation.
Once this happened the two of them both became criminal profilers, finding themselves being trained and working under Ashley's own father, Derek Fox. A situation that worked out well for many years, and saw the three of them working and closing many cases together. That is until investigated the case of a suspect named Lyle Corley, a clown-obsessed serial killer, who murdered Derek after he trusted in Hunter's profile that the man would not use a gun. This mistake not only cost Hunter his job with the bureau but also his marriage to Ashley, who divorced him some weeks later. If that wasn't bad enough Hunter was also left with permanent knee damage from a bullet he took during Lyle's attempted arrested. Now divorced, jobless, and crippled Hunter started looking for anything to fill the giant emptiness that was now his life, and did in the form of a criminal profiler for the Keystone City Police Department. Where he then found himself working with the Flash. The two of them becoming good friends and solving a number of difficult cases together. Yet despite this Hunter always resented the fact he was stuck behind a desk and not out in the field.
This resentment becoming anger when he found himself paralyzed from the waist down after being injured by Gorilla Grodd when he launched an attack on Iron Heights. Not wanting to face this new reality Hunter pleaded with Wally to use the Cosmic Treadmill at the Flash Museum to go back in time and change his fate. However the Flash refused, saying he didn't want to alter the timestream. Angered by this Hunter then broke into the Flash Museum and attempted to use the treadmill himself, only for an explosion to occur. Which resulted in Hunter gaining his own connection to the Speed Force itself. With this he started to think he would make a better hero, specifically a Flash, than Barry ever could and so he decided to eliminate him. Only for his plan to fail for him to gain the name of Zoom instead. Becoming one of the Flash family most dangerous adversaries.
