Powers[]

  • Kryptonian Physiology: As a Kryptonian, Kara's cellular structure is much more dense, resilient and biologically more effective than human tissue. She doesn't possess superhuman strength levels despite her enhanced cellular ability without her cellular structure charged with yellow solar energy. Without such charging, her physical capabilities are identical to a human of her height and weight who engages in regular physical activity. As an alien, she possesses several organs whose functions are not yet disclosed or understood but are believed to be part of or the source of her bio-matrix force field and reclamation aura. Kara's body also stores energy actively within her bio-cellular matrix as an energy pattern that is linked to her body's electromagnetic field. This energy powers most of her electromagnetic capabilities such as flight, heat vision and other "sight"-based abilities while supplementing her physical abilities to superhuman levels.
    • Solar Energy Absorption: As a Kyrptonian, Kara's cellular structure allows her to absorb, store and metabolize the wavelength of yellow sun radiation to fuel all of her abilities with direct exposure to sunlight accelerating her absorption rate. Stars of different frequencies give her different abilities. The wavelength of her home solar system's red sun enables her body to function on an identical level of an ordinary, healthy human while the Earth's solar radiation in both its raw and flittered state through the Earth's atmosphere fuels all of her powers. Every time Kara uses any of her superhuman abilities, her body expends absorbed sunlight, and she is capable of utilizing any of them to various degree through controlled circumstances. By flying into the sun, Kara is able to recharge her energy and temporarily boost her powers. The solar-based radiation of a foreign blue star proved to increase his known abilities under a yellow sun to a higher degree and enabled additional powers. The existence and constant exposure to proven "healthy" radiation sources is not required for her to live and utilize her powers, but prolonged periods without exposure to them and/or utilizing her powers will require Kara to recharge in order to live and continue using her powers. Her biological make-up includes a number of organs which lack analogues in humans and whose functions are unknown. It is believed that between one or more of these and her bio-cellular matrix, "yellow" solar energy is stored for later use. This allows for the use of these powers to fade when yellow solar radiation is not available instead of immediate failure.
      • Energy Absorption: After training with Cadus, Kara learned how to absorb certain types of energy outside of solar radiation albeit to various degrees.
    • Superhuman Strength: Kara possesses near limitless strength though the exact limits are unknown. Different periods and intensities of exposure to Earth's solar radiation can cause her strength to fluctuate over time, but due to her living on Earth since she was a baby; Kara has managed to absorb incredible amounts of reserves of solar energy within herself. As time goes by, her strength and power increases
      • Shockwave Generation: Due to Kara’s incredible strength, she is capable creating powerful sonic booms with just the clap of her hands.
    • Superhuman Speed: Kara is able to move at incredible speed by sheer force of will. This extends to her perceptions and allows for feats such as catching bullets in mid flight as well as covering vast distances in little or no time.
      • Molecular Acceleration: Kara was taught by the flash twins how to vibrate her molecular structure to achieve various effects similar to their own.
        • Phasing: By vibrating her molecules on an atomic level, and by doing so at just the right frequency, Kara can phase through objects such as walls without damaging them
        • Intangibility: Kara can vibrate her molecular structure to an intangible state, allowing objects to pass through her, including energy blasts
      • Vortex Creation: Kara can use her speed to manipulate airflow for various purposes. By flying around a group of enemies at super speed, she can create a vortex around them to draw away their oxygen and choke them out
    • Superhuman Agility: Kara’s agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels. This allows her to easily make sharp turns and easily maneuver while flying and moving at superhuman speed.
    • Superhuman Reflexes: Kara possesses reflexes far greater than any normal human being. This allows her to easily react to danger and events and perceive the world in slow motion.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Kara is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite period of time. This is based on her body converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy but is limited by physiological and psychological needs to eat, drink and sleep. Theoretically, she can possess unlimited stamina so long as she is constantly exposed to sunlight.
    • Superhuman Senses:
      • Super-Vision: Kara’s vision processes the entire electromagnetic spectrum as well as allowing vast control over selective perception and focus. This umbrella ability includes the following:
        • Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision: Kara can see well into all of the electromagnetic spectrum. She can see and identify radio and television signals as well as all other broadcast or transmitted frequencies. Using this ability, she can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods. This also allows her to see the aura generated by living things.
        • Infrared Vision: Kara can see with better acuity in darkness, and to a degree in total darkness.
        • Microscopic Vision: Kara can see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level.
        • Telescopic Vision: Kara can see objects and people over large distances by focusing on it, without violating the laws of physics. She compared this ability to the zoom lens on a camera.
        • X-Ray Vision: By focusing his vision, Kara can see through any volume of matter, except lead. She can see things behind a solid, opaque object as if it were not there and can focus this ability to "peel back" layers of an object, allowing hidden image or inner workings to be observed. It
      • Super-Hearing: Kara has the ability to expand her hearing range, giving her the ability to hear sound before the sound waves actually reaches her. This also gives her incredible hearing at extreme variances of sound and pitch frequency, allowing him to pick up noises from across the globe. With skill and concentration, she can block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source or frequency. Her hearing is so acute she can hear someone's distinct heartbeat out of crowd of eleven million people. She can detect changes in wavelength and determines when mind-control is occurring.
      • Super-Smell: Kara’s sense of smell is enhanced to levels far greater than any normal human.
      • Super-Taste: Kara’s sense of taste is enhanced to levels far greater than any normal human.
  • Accelerated Healing: Kara’s bodily tissue can repair itself fast enough to be visibly noticeable, allowing her to heal from injuries at a highly accelerated rate. The time it takes for her to heal depends on the level of injury. When under direct sunlight, Kara can heal almost instantly
    • Toxic Immunity: Kara is resistant to almost any toxins and diseases due to her superhuman immune system
  • Enhanced Mental Process: Kara’s mental capacity is enhanced to levels far greater than any normal human, allowing her to take in and process information at an accelerated rate. This allows Kara to read through large amounts of information at super-speed and retain it. Her mind is able to process information at such speeds that she can perceive femtoseconds and attoseconds
  • Flight: Kara is able to manipulate graviton particles to defy the forces of gravity and achieve flight. This ranges from hovering to moving in any posture, in any direction. She is capable of flying at supersonic speeds (over two thousand miles per second) in a planetary atmosphere and at faster-than-light speeds while in space.
  • Heat Vision: Kara can, as a conscious act, fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at. These beams can be made invisible, allowing her to work undetected, and can be adjusted to affect matter on a microscopic level. She can vary the heat and area affected.
    • Solar Flare: Regarded as a last resort, Kara can expel all of her stored solar energy in one gigantic burst of explosive force. In exchange for devastating power, all of her powers are drained as a result and she is left virtually human and vulnerable up until she can recharge her cells with solar energy. This can take 24 hours give or take.
  • Interstellar Travel: Kara is immune to the nature of space and is not inhibited by its lack of gravity. She can travel the reaches of space where no human body could possibly survive without the aid of technology or protection.
  • Invulnerability: Due to the combination of her dense molecular structure and a invisible, supercharged bio-electric aura that constantly surrounds her body, Kara is either resistant or nigh-invulnerable to different forms and levels of lacerations, blunt force trauma, energy-based assaults, explosions and the cold void of space. Only beings rivaling her own power, Kryptonite-based weaponry, powerful energy attacks, and magic-based attacks can significantly harm Kara.
    • Tacticle-Telekinesis: Kara is able to simulate a form of telekinesis through touch by extending the field of energy that constantly surrounds her to other objects. This allows her to lift objects such as a mountain without it crumbling and falling apart under its own mass.
  • Immortality: Kara can potentially live and remain in her prime indefinitely so long as she continuously retains sufficient enough yellow solar radiation in her body.
  • Super-Breath: Kara possesses enormous lung capacity which allows her to generate winds comparable to hurricanes by simply blowing air from her lungs. She can also breath in large volumes of air and vapor to clear an area. Alternatively, she can lower the temperature of her breath to freeze objects.
  • Self-Sustenance: Kara doesn't need to eat or sleep so long as she has enough solar energy (but is still capable of doing so) and doesn't require oxygen to breathe.

  • Genius Level Intellect: Kryptonians, though otherwise completely human, were superior both intellectually and physically to natives of Earth. Supergirl who lived on Argo City for some time learned much about science and technology. She excels in engineering and has been shown at a young age to be able to reprogram advanced Kryptonian technology, like a robot, with little effort.
  • Multilingualism: Kara speaks a multiple languages fluently besides her native Kryptonese.
  • Indomitable Will: Kara possesses an incredibly powerful will
  • Artistry: Kara is also artistic and was once approached by the head of the Art Council who wanted to mentor Kara just like he did with her father. She keeps a guitar and a sewing machine in her apartment and she draws and designs new versions of her costume every so often.

Weaknesses[]

  • Vulnerability to Kryptonite: Since the destruction of Krypton, its remains (rendered radioactive by the explosion) have been spreading throughout the universe as Kryptonite, a crystalline substance whose specific radioactive wavelength is lethal to Kryptonians native to this reality. The most common form of Kryptonite is Green Kryptonite, and its effect is directly poisonous to him. Kryptonite from other realities do not necessarily have the same effects on all Kryptonians.

  • Vulnerability to Magic: Kara is particularly vulnerable to magic with it varying depending upon the special effects of the magic. As such, she can be injured and worn down by magical entities. Alongside kryptonite, magic can often prove to be the most dangerous to her.
  • Vulnerability to Psionics: Kara Zor-L is as vulnerable to psionic attacks as a normal human being. She is subject to mental domination attacks against her. Those whose mental powers are superior to her own have been able to render her unconscious or disrupt her natural thought processes in battle.
  • Lead: While lead itself is not harmful to Kara, she is unable to see through it with her x-ray vision. However, she is capable of using it to identify said material.
  • Solar Energy Dependency: As a Kryptonian, Kara’s abilities are dependent on normal (yellow) sun radiation to function properly as going long periods without being able to replenish her energy reserves will cause them to weaken and eventually disappear. Similarly, exposure to large amounts of red solar radiation will cause Kara to lose her powers at a more rapid pace until she is exposed to yellow sunlight to reverse the effects.
  • Sensory Overload: Due to Kara’s superhumanly acute senses, they are susceptible to being overtaxed and overwhelmed to the point of pain when encountering extreme external stimuli such as hypersonics (hearing), balance, and sight (flashbang).
