Mike Grell's Sorcerers is an American urban fantasy superhero animated television developed by Bruce Timm and Mike Grell for Adult Swim and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television and based upon comic of the same name by Mike Grell. Unlike many current DC shows, the series was set in its own continuity.

Set in an 1980s-inspired retro universe, the series features the adventures of a band of magical brave heroes lead by a young sorcerers apprentice of the O'Clery's a family of powerful Irish sorcerers and their duels against the evil and powerful sorcerer known as Arawn the Wraith King and a magic hunting organization known as Salem's Chosen along with several other threats, both magical and non magical.

The series received widespread critical acclaim for its character design, complex story arcs, animation, emotional depth and faithfulness to the source material. Mike Grell has even stated that the series was his favorite adaptation of his work so far.

Premise[]

One thousand years ago, the world was filled with magic and wonder. Sword and sorcery ruled the Earth. The 14 lived side by side as one. The mighty dragons dotted the skies, the air hot with their breath. It was the age of the sorcerer. Sworn to kept the peace and harmony between the magical and mortal worlds, we were betrayed by one of our own. A powerful and cruel sorcerer known as Arawn the Wraith King desired to take both the magical and mortal worlds for his own. However he was foiled, the powerful and good sorcerer Fionn O'Clery, my ancestor stepped forward to oppose him and banished the power hungry sorcerer and his witches to the Void for all time. But in the aftermath, the mortals turned and began to hunt us. Fortunately helped us to escape into hiding. A thousand years later, Arawn and his witches have escaped the Void, however my brave grandson and a band of brave heroes stand before him and his evil forces.

The series features a society of sorcerers and various magical creatures including elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, trolls, faeries, dark elves, , half-elves, satyrs, leprechauns, halflings, centaurs, drakes, glutts and dragons living in hidden secrecy from the mortals. Back in the 10th century, both the mortal and magical worlds lived side by side in peace and harmony However the peace between the two worlds was broken when an evil and powerful sorcerer known as Arawn the Wraith King attempted to conquer both the mortal and magical worlds, however a good and powerful sorcerer named Fionn of the Irish sorcerer family known as the O'Clery's stood against Arawn. Following 10 years of war, Fionn confronted Arawn in his fortress of Castle Dark and after a long and lengthily duel, Fionn triumphed and banished Arawn and many of his followers to the Void for all eternity.

However following Arawn's defeat and banishment, the mortal world turned on the magical world and, lead by the mortal King Erik, began a mass persecution during which many sorcerers and magical creatures were mercilessly hunted down and killed. However, Erik's older sister, Princess Katherine and a group of mortals who remained friends to the magical world helped the survivors escape into hiding. Princess Katherine and the mortals then formed the Order of the Druids, a secret society dedicated to keeping the magical world hidden and safe until they feel are ready to return to the open.

1'000 years after his defeat, Arawn finally escapes from the Void and once again makes his plans to conqueror both the magical and mortal worlds. 27 years later, the governing body of the magical world, the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings, learns of Arawn's escape from the Void. However one of Fionn's descendants, a young Irish American sorcerers apprentice from the town of Hollows Grove named James O'Clery decides to put together a fellowship consisting on himself, his beloved elf princess Julia, her twin brother and his best friend Prince Aldrin, benevolent dark elf healer and Aldrin's love interest Ciarda, dwarf warrior brothers Durin and Dain, satyr bard Hoofer, fairy scout Flutter, O'Clery family troll guardian Trevor and reformed mortal criminal Robert Johnson to fight against Arawn and his forces.

The Fellowship then begins clashing against Arawn and various other threats, both magical and non-magical. Their biggest non magical threat being a magic hunting organization known as Salem's Chosen lead by the fanatical magic hating Mary Hopkins, descendant of infamous 17th century witch hunter Matthew Hopkins. Along the way, the Fellowship also gain several iconic DC heroes as their allies including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Cast and characters[]

The Fellowship[]

  • James O'Clery (Charlie Heaton) - A young Irish American sorcerers apprentice of the O'Clery line who is the leader of the Fellowship and the main protagonist. Although he sometimes worries about his ability to lead the Fellowship, he is always given support from his loving grandparents and his beloved Julia.
  • Princess Julia Greenleaf (Natalia Dyer) - The beautiful princess of the elves who is James childhood sweetheart and the second in command of the Fellowship. Both she and James have loved each other ever since they both first meet when they were 8 years old when Simon brought James to the palace.
  • Prince Aldrin (Joe Keery) - The warrior prince of the elves who is Julia's twin brother and James' best friend. As well as being a warrior prince, Aldrin is also the researcher for the Fellowship and can speak in several languages including elven and dwarven.
  • Ciarda (Violett Beane) - A beautiful and benevolent dark elf who is the healer of the Fellowship and the love interest of Aldrin. She is also the adoptive daughter of Padraig, the leprechaun physician for the Royal Elf Family, having found her as a newly orphaned infant on a battlefield.
  • Durin and Dain (Robert Craighead & Adam J. Harrington) - A pair of dwarf warrior brothers from the dwarven kingdom of Dwelfheim. Durin has a black beard, sports a mohawk and wields a pair of axes. Dain has a brown beard, has his hair in a ponytail and wields a warhammer.
  • Hoofer (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) - A satyr who serves the Fellowship as their bard. He is a source of comic relief for the series, mainly due to annoying the hell out of the Fellowship with his terrible singing. Another recurring gag is that Hoofer is a closeted homosexual, a fact that he denies.
  • Flutter (Rob Paulsen) - A fairy who acts as the Fellowship's aerial scout who also wears an aviators cap and goggles. Flutter has a laid back personality, often speaking like a 1960s hippie or beatnik. He does however know when to take things seriously.
  • Trevor (Mike Myers) - A large and powerful cave troll who is both the muscle for the Fellowship and has been the Guardian of the O'Clery family for 1'000 years. Back in the 10th century, he was foraging for food when he was attacked by an evil dragon but was saved by Fionn O'Clery and has since sworn a life debt.
  • Robert Johnson/The Wizard) (Paul Rudd) - A reformed mortal criminal who is the only mortal member of the Fellowship. Following his release from prison, he was unable to get a job due to his criminal record and as a result, wasn't allowed to see his daughter Tammy due to not being able to pay child support.

The Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings[]

  • Simon and Margaret O'Clery (Mark Hamill & Melendy Britt) - A pair of powerful and respected sorcerers who are important members of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. They are also both the loving and supportive paternal grandparents to James and Matt, having raised them ever since their father vanished and their mother left them.
  • King Alrich Greenleaf (James Arnold Taylor) - The High King of the Elves who is the widowed father of Julia and Aldrin and the head of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. A caring father to his two children, Aldrich's biggest hope is that they can someday walk in the opening and not in hiding as they've done for so many years.
  • Padraig (Brendan Gleeson) - A leprechaun who is the physician for the Royal Elf Family and the adoptive father of Ciarda. During the War of the Elves and Dark Elves, he was serving as a medic when he came across newly orphaned infant Ciarda on the battlefield. His heart moved, Padriag then adopted and raised her as his daughter.
  • Henry MacCallum (TBA) - A Scottish sorcerer of the MacCallum who is the father of Miles and an important member of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. He is also the ex-husband of Mary, he was forced to flee with Miles when Mary discovered they were sorcerers and tried to kill them
  • Mongo Ironhand (Warwick Davis) - A rather eccentric dwarf sorcerer who is a member of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings with a fondness for cigars and martinis.
  • King Hafnar (Kevin Michael Richardson) - The King of the Trolls who is also a member of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings.
  • Lord Stonebeard (Tom Kane) - A Dwarf Lord who is the ruler of the dwarf kingdom of Dwelfheim and a member of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. He is also a good friend and ally to King Alrich.
  • Chiron (TBA) - A centaur who is the chieftain to a tribe of centaurs from the plains of Wyoming and a member of the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. Like all centaurs, Chiron is proud but very wise nevertheless.

Other Sorcerers[]

  • Matt O'Clery (Tara Strong) - An 11 year old sorcerers apprentice who is the younger brother of James. He idolizes his older brother and the Fellowship and would like to join them on their adventures, however he isn't able due to his young age. Matt is also an avid Star Wars fan, owning the complete saga and several pieces of merchandise.
  • Ronan O'Clery (Freddie Prinze Jr.) - A powerful sorcerer of the O'Clery who is the long lost father of James and Matt. Years ago, when James and Matt were both very young, Ronan disappeared and was never seen again, It was later revealed that he was captured by Salem's Chosen and imprisoned in their facility.
  • Miles MacCallum (TBA) - A 16 year old Scottish sorcerers apprentice who is the son of Henry and Mary. When he was only a toddler, his mother tried to drown him whilst she was giving him a bath after learning that he was a sorcerer. Luckily his father Henry walked in and saved, before fleeing with him to America.

The Order of Druids[]

  • Dr. Henry Lewis (Richard Schiff) - A mortal scientist who is member of the Order of Druids and a good friend to the Fellowship. A recurring gag in the series is that he tries to explain magic with science, however it would always humorously backfire on him.
  • Chief Ryan Carter (Tom Kane) - The chief of the Hollows Grove Police Department who is one of the Fellowship's strongest allies. He staunchly believes that they are necessary for Hollows Grove as they deal with threats the police aren't qualified to deal with. He is also the paternal cousin of Commissioner James Gordon.
  • Gary and Dave Martin (TBA & TBA) - A pair of mortal brothers who are members of the Order of Druids and good friends to the Fellowship. They are both game designers and creators of the award winning roleplaying game Sorcerers & Wizards.
  • Tammy Johnson (Abby Ryder Fortson) - The 7 year old daughter of Robert and Charlotte. She is a bright and cheerful child who adores her father, but is saddened that they can't spend much time together. She is also a huge fan of the Fellowship, much to her stepfather Carl's disgust.
  • Rick Johnson (TBA) - A detective in the Hollows Grove Police Department and the older brother of Robert and father of Josh. Despite the fact that Robert has a criminal record, both he and Robert still have a good relationship with each other. Rick is also the partner of Carl Swaddle, although the two have a huge dislike of each other.
  • Josh Johnson (TBA) - The 14 son of Rick and the late Lorraine. Due to his mothers recent death from cancer, Josh is moody and withdrawn. However beneath everything, Josh is a kind and caring teenager who loves his father, uncle and cousin. Eventually with their permission, Josh and Tammy both train to become wizards.
  • Skywalker (Richard Horvitz) - A golem who was originally created by Salem's Chosen until he rebelled and joined the magical world. He was built by Dr. John Simmons for the sole purpose of hunting or destroying sorcerers, however he was given an experimental chip that gave him both a conscience and emotions.
  • Princess Katherine (TBA) - A mortal princess from the 10th century who was the older sister of King Erik and the founder of the Order of Druids. Following her fathers death, Erik stole her throne and launched the Great Purge against the magical world. Katherine and some mortals fortunately were able to help the survivors escape into hiding.

Other Magical Characters[]

  • The Great Dragon (James Earl Jones) - An ancient, wise and powerful dragon who acts like a sort of spiritual guide for the Fellowship. Having hatched 14'000 years ago, he is the oldest magical creature on Earth and as a result is given a lot of respect and influence from the magical community.
  • Captain Eladren Brownleaf (Clancy Brown) - A muscular and well-built elf who is the captain of the Royal Elf Guard and the father of Leriel. He is a very loyal elf who cares deeply for the magical community despite his gruff exterior, he also cares deeply for his daughter as she's the only family he has left.
  • Beran and Leriel Brownleaf (TBA & TBA) - A married elf couple who are members of the elven forces. Beran is a member of the Royal Elf Guard and Leriel is both the captain of the Unicorn Cavalry and the daughter of Eladren.
  • Proudfoot (TBA) - A kind and friendly halfling who owns and runs a tavern called "The Laughing Dragon" in Hollows Groves that is frequented by the Fellowship after their adventures. Although he likes to hear of the Fellowship's adventures, Proudfoot has no desire to go on one himself, believing adventures to be nasty things.
  • Durlin (Usman Ally) - A dwarf who works for the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. He is known for being a huge follower of rules and protocols, like refusing to let the Fellowship into the council chambers unless they handed over their weapons.
  • Fireheart (Kevin Conroy) - A legendary drake warrior who served along Fionn O'Clery during the Great War 1'000 years ago. Following the death of his wife and hatchlings by King Erik's soldiers during the Purge, Fireheart was left extremely jaded and bitter at their slaughter and their kind, he then hid himself away from the world as a result.
  • Cloven (TBA) - A satyr religious leader who is the uncle of Fellowship member Hoofer. He is a warm and caring individual who is a source of comfort and advice to the Fellowship whenever they need it.
  • Fionn O'Clery (Daniel Radcliffe) - A legendary Irish sorcerer who is the ancestor of James, Matt, Ronan and Simon. 1'000 years ago, he lead the Free Armies against Arawn and his hordes of orcs, goblins, trolls, dark elves, glutts and witches. Eventually he confronted Arawn and after a long duel, banished the evil sorcerer to the Void for eternity.

Neutral Characters[]

  • The Witches of Moor (Kate Miller, Emily O'Brien & Shelby Young) - A trio of divine witches who according to legend are said to be able to determine ones fate. Whether they have this ability is unknown, the trio consists of the grandmother, the mother and the daughter.
  • John Strange (Rob Paulsen) - A mysterious being who has lived in the woods around Hollows Grove for hundreds of years. He dresses rather eccentrically and speaks in riddles, he has no alignment to anyone, preferring to be left to his own devices.
  • Emily Brown (Catherine Taber) - The ex-wife and childhood sweetheart of Henry. When Henry was falsely accused of massacring civilians in the Middle East, a distraught Emily was convinced to divorce him, abort their child and marry Henry's stepbrother Chris. When Henry returned home, she coldly rejected him only for it to backfire horribly.
  • Harvey Brown (TBA) - The father of Henry and stepfather of Chris and Cindy. When Henry was a child, he divorced Henry's sick mother and married Sheila and adopting Chris and Cindy as own. After Henry was falsely accused of his war crimes, Harvey harshly shunned him, only for it to for him and family to imprisoned in Arawn's dungeons.
  • Sheila Brown (Julie Kavner) - The stepmother and mother of Chris and Cindy. When Henry was a child, she was very strict to him, sometimes punishing him for either minor things or from Chris' pranks. After Henry was falsely accused of his war crimes, it was Sheila who suggested to Emily that she divorce him, abort their child and marry Chris.
  • Christopher "Chris" Brown (TBA) - The stepbrother of Henry and the husband of Emily. Growing up, he made it his life's mission to make Henry's life as miserable as possible like getting him into trouble for his pranks. Later, he married Emily after she was convinced that Henry massacred civilians, only to get imprisoned in Arawn's dungeons.
  • Cindy Brown (TBA) - The stepsister of Henry and the sister of Chris. She is a lazy and spoiled girl who spends all her time partying and never focusing on either her education or finding a job.
  • Charlotte Johnson (TBA) - The ex-wife of Robert and the mother of Tammy. Once married to Robert, she divorced him after he was imprisoned and began dating the draconic cop Carl Swaddle. When Robert was released, Charlotte refused to let Robert see Tammy unless he got a job and began paying child support.
  • Jim and Barbara Johnson (Patrick St. Esprit & Jane Kaczmarek) - The parents of Robert and Rick and the paternal grandparents of Tammy and Josh. Jim is shown be harsh with Robert due to his criminal record, calling him a bitter disappointment. Barbara is more kinder to Robert, although she agrees with not letting him see Tammy.

The Dark Forces[]

  • Arawn the Wraith King (Andy Serkis) - A powerful and evil sorcerer who is the archenemy of the Fellowship and one of two main antagonists of the series. He is a power hungry despot who seeks to rule both the mortal and magical worlds, having first tried to over 1'000 years ago but was foiled and banished to the Void by Fionn O'Clery.
  • Morgana (Tress McNeille) - A powerful and sinister witch who is Arawn's second in command of his forces and the leaders of his witches. Intelligent and loyal, she was one of Arawn's first followers along with Croaker and was banished with him to the Void by Fionn O'Clery.
  • Croaker (Max Casella) - A toadlike humanoid who is Arawn's most loyal servant and right hand man. Although he has a weak appearance and has a seemingly cowardly personality, Croaker is actually quite a lethal fighter, he was also one of Arawn's earliest followers along with Morgana and like her, was banished to the Void by Fionn O'Clery.
  • Warchief Grimskull (Keith David) - An imposing orc warchief who is Arawn's favorite general and the leader of his orc soldiers. Although ruthless and brutal, Grimskull joined with Arawn in order to give his tribe a better life after they fell on hard times and does genuinely love his three children Bloodnose, Gorbag and Sigrid.
  • Bloodnose, Gorbag and Sigrid (Sam Witwer, Troy Baker & Billie Lourd) - Grimskull's two sons and daughter who serve as warriors in Arawn's army. Bloodnose is albino and a swordsman like his father, Gorbag is a highly skilled archer despite having a deformed left hand and Sigrid is a shieldmaiden with a pair of throwing axes.
  • Bolverk Blackheart (Corey Burton) - A dark elf warlord who is one of Arawn's favorite generals and the father of Freya. He was one of Arawn's earliest and most loyal followers, having served him in the Great War. After Arawn's defeat and banishment, Bolverk went into hiding for the next 1'000 years and fathering Freya.
  • Freya Blackheart (Ivana Baquero) - A beautiful dark elf who is the daughter of Bolverk and a warrior in Arawn's army. She is a highly skilled archer, which sometimes puts her at odds with Gorbag. She is also the lover of Bloodnose, but the two keep it secret due to their fathers being rivals and hating each other.
  • Ratso and Skullface (James & Oliver Phelps) - A pair of goblin twin assassins who serve Arawn as both his assassins and spies. Having been highly skilled assassin's for many years, their reputation caught the attention of Arawn who hired them to his cause.
  • Henry Brown (Matt Lanter) - A bitter mortal war veteran who is one of Arawn's generals. Once a soldier in the United States, he was falsely accused of massacring civilians, but in rather had frantically tried to prevent. After returning home, he was shunned by his family and friends, including Emily. Distraught and enraged, he joined with Arawn.
  • Knights of Fenrir (Various) - A group of seven wraithlike knights who are Arawn's most loyal and dangerous minions. Once a band of brave and noble knights from the 10th century, they fell under Arawn's sway with the promises of wealth and power. One by one, they fell under his influence and became wraiths.
  • Arawn's Army (Various) - A vast army of orcs, goblins, trolls, dark elves and witches who serve the evil and power hungry sorcerer Arawn the Wraith King.

Salem's Chosen[]

  • Mary Hopkins (Ivana Miličević) - The ruthless magic hating leader of Salem's Chosen and one of the two main antagonists of the series along with Arawn. She is a ruthless and cruel woman who seeks to exterminate anything magical from the world at any cost, she is also a direct descendant of infamous 17th century witch hunter Matthew Hopkins.
  • Sergi Obruchev (TBA) - A former Spetsnaz who is Mary's second in command of Salem's Chosen and lover. Once a member of the Spetsnaz, he was discharged after his ruthless interrogation methods resulted in the death of a terrorist suspect. After his dismissal, he was recruited by Mary into Salem's Chosen becoming second in command.
  • Captain Thomas Smith (Phil LaMarr) - A former Navy Seals who is a commander of Salem's Chosen soldiers. He joined the organization after a sorcerer supposedly killed his wife, children and parents. Unlike the rest of the organization, Captain Thomas is a good and honorable man who genuinely respects the Fellowship, much to Mary's disgust.
  • Dr. John Simmons (TBA) - A scientist and former college of Dr. Henry Lewis who works as the chief scientist for Salem's Chosen. Unlike Dr. Henry who is caring and compassionate, Dr. John is a cold and cruel man, who is perfectly willing to experiment on innocent people with hesitation or remorse and has a disgust for morals and ethics.
  • Pastor Harrison (TBA) - A fire and brimstone pastor who is the chaplain for Salem's Chosen. He is a fundamentalist Christian who believes magic to be "the stool of Satan" and sorcerers and magical creatures to be heathens in need of smiting. He even considers Mary to be a "true Christian" in response to her work.
  • Golems (TBA) - A group of powerful magic hunting robots who were created by Dr. John Simmons for Salem's Chosen. The sole function of the Golems is to either capture or kill any sorcerer and magical being they come across, this has lead the Golem's to become highly feared among the magical community as a result.

Night Goblins[]

  • Duke Galadrin Stranglevine/Balor (Jason Issacs) - A powerful and arrogant elf duke who is also the father of Beoudrien. Galadrin is extremely arrogant and snobbish elf who looks down on both people he considers beneath him and to all non elf races. He is also secretly Balor, the masked leader of the mysterious Night Goblins.
  • Beoudrien Stranglevine (TBA) - A handsome elf warrior who is the son of Duke Galadrin Stranglevine and his secret right-hand man of the Night Goblins. Like his father, Beoudrien is snobbish and arrogant, looking down at all non elves. He is also in love with Princess Julia, believing that he'd make a better husband to her than James.
  • Gobner (TBA) - A sly goblin who is Duke Galadrin's second in command of the Night Goblins. Although he appears to be loyal to Galadrin, Gobner is revealed to have a secret agenda of his own, what it is remains to be seen.
  • Boomer (Frank Welker) - A hulking and muscular goblin who mostly communicates in grunts and rarely speaks. He also acts as the bodyguard of Gobner, mainly due to the formers cowardly nature.
  • Fjalar and Galar (TBA & TBA) - A pair of sinister dwarf brothers who serve Duke Galadrin and his Night Goblins. Formerly a pair of con-artists, they were forced to go on the run after they murdered the Norwegian sorcerer, Kvasir Bjornsson and used his blood to create the Mead of Poetry.

Other Villains[]

  • Erlking (TBA) - A sinister and malicious elf who lives in the Black Forest in Germany. He lives in sinister looking castle built from black stone and covered in poisonous thorns to prevent his victims from escaping.
  • Vermithrax Poisonbreath (Tom Kane) - A evil man-eating dragon who is known for his hypnotic powers. First Vermithrax would lull his enemies into a false sense of security before making them strip naked and then devouring them.
  • Jarba the Glutt (Kevin Michael Richardson) - A glutt crime lord who is one of the most powerful crime bosses in the magical criminal underworld. He lives in an old abandoned manor in upstate New York where he operates a vast criminal empire.
  • Mr. Crush and Mr. Smash (Maurice LaMarche & Rob Paulsen) - A two-headed troll who works as a career criminal. Mr. Crush is the left head and the most intelligent of the two. Mr. Smash is the right head whose the muscle of the two, as well as the least intelligent. Mr. Crush comes up with several get rich quick schemes which always fail.
  • King Hobgoblin (Gilbert Gottfried) - The obese King of the Goblins from Goblinhalla. Obese and lazy, he is one of the Fellowship's least dangerous enemies, being treated as more of a nuisance.
  • Yule Cat (Frank Welker) - A large and extremely dangerous magical catlike creature that appears during the winter season. The cat's been known to stalk people whilst they're out at night, before attacking and tearing them to pieces.
  • King Erik (Matt Lanter) - An evil and ruthless mortal king from the 10th century. Born the son of King Harold, a mortal king who was a great friend to the magical community, Erik however had always hated magic for no reason. After his fathers death, Erik took his throne and began his mass slaughter of the magical community.
  • Carl Swaddle (TBA) - A detective in the Hollows Grove Police Department who is an enemy of the Fellowship and the fiancée of Charlotte. He is a bitter and angry man who hates both the Fellowship and superheroes as a whole, believing them to be nothing more than glorified criminals and would give anything to arrest them.

Guest DC Heroes and Villains[]

  • The Justice League - A team made of some of the greatest superheroes on Earth whose goal is to protect the citizens of the world and to maintain international peace. The Justice League is also strong allies with the Fellowship, occasionally aiding them from time to time.
    • Batman/Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) - The costumed vigilante protector of Gotham City and the alias of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. When he was only 10 years old, he witnessed his parents Thomas and Martha Wayne being gunned down by a mugger. After his parents deaths, he vowed to devoted his life to fighting crime and protecting the innocent. When he grew up, he donned a costume and a mask that resembled that of a bat,
    • Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent (Jerry O'Connell) - The superpowered protector of Metropolis who is the last of the Kryptonians and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. When he was an infant, he was launched into space by his parents shortly before their planet of Krypton exploded. After arriving on Earth, he landed in Smallville Kansas where he was adopted by kindly farming couple Jonathan and Martha Kent.
    • Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Vanessa Marshall) - The princess of the Amazons of Themyscira and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. During World War 2, she met United States Airforce captain Steve Trevor who had washed up on Themyscira. After learning of the war, Diana decided to leave her home and join Steve in the conflict. After leaving Themyscira, she and Steve headed to the European Theatre where she joined the fight against Hitler and the Nazis.
    • Green Arrow/Oliver Queen (TBA) - The costumed protector of Star City who is also an occasional ally of the Fellowship. Growing up, he was inspired by the stories of Robin Hood, so much so that he decided to take up archery. When he grew up, he became a sort of reckless playboy, however things changed after he became stranded on an island in the pacific. Changing his life, he returned to Star City where he became its vigilante protector.
    • Green Lantern/Hal Jordan (Nathan Fillion) - A formed test pilot who is a member of the Green Lantern Corps and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. Formerly a Airforce fighter pilot working for his girlfriends fathers flight company, he came across a dying alien named Abin Sur who gave him his power ring. Afterwards, Hal became a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force founded by the Guardians of the Universe to main peace and order in the universe.
    • Flash/Barry Allen (Michael Rosenbaum) - A superhero from Central City with the power of superspeed who is a member of the Justice League and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. Once a forensic chemist for the Central City Police Department, he received his powers after his lab was struck by lightning during a storm one night. After learning that he had powers, Barry decided to put them to good use by fighting crime.
  • Robin/Jason Todd (James Marsden) - Bruce's second adopted son and ward who is also the second person to become Robin. Like Dick. Jason was the son of a pair of recently deceased circus performers. However Jason ended up on the street, often having to steal in order to survive. One day he attempted to steal the Batmobiles tires, only to be stopped by Batman. Taking pity on him, Bruce took Jason in as his second adopted son and ward, even training him as the next Robin.
  • Nightwing/Dick Grayson (Sean Maher) - The first adopted son of Bruce Wayne and the first Robin the Boy Wonder. He was the son of a pair of circus performers who died during a performance at Haley's Circus, he was then taken in by Bruce who adopted him as his ward. After learning that Bruce was Batman, he joined him as his sidekick Robin. When he turned 18, Dick decided to step down as Robin and become the hero Nightwing. Although he left Gotham, he returns to help Batman out from time to time.
  • Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (Peyton R. List) - The daughter of Batman's chief ally Commissioner James Gordon and the girlfriend of Dick Grayson. She was so inspired by the heroics of Batman and Robin that she donned a costume similar to Batman's and called herself Batgirl, joining Batman and Robin in their crusade. Eventually she revealed her identity to Batman and Robin, even forming a relationship with the latter. When Dick became Nightwing and left Gotham, Barbara went with him.
  • Alfred Pennyworth (Alastair Duncan) - The loyal butler and father figure of Bruce Wayne. Following Bruce's parents murder by Joe Chill when he was 10 years old, Alfred became his legal guardian. Although he sometimes worries about Bruce due to his career as Batman, Alfred nevertheless fully supports him in his crusade. Alfred is also a sort of grandfatherly figure to Bruce's two wards Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
  • Commissioner James Gordon (Bruce Thomas) - The commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department who is Batman's strongest ally in his war on crime. When Bruce started his career as Batman, Gordon was still a lieutenant and made it his mission to capture and arrest Batman. However he soon realized that Batman was necessary for Gotham, thus becoming his ally. He fully supports both Batman and even the Fellowship, the latter mainly due to Chief Ryan Carter being his paternal cousin.
  • Swamp Thing/Alec Holland (Roger Cross) - A former scientist who was turned into a humanoid plant creature. He was working in his lab in Louisiana when two thugs attacked it and set it on fire, during the struggle with the thugs, Alec was dosed in a bio-restorative formula that he was working on that also leaked into the swamp. The formula merged with some vegetation, imbuing it with Alec's conscience and memories. It then gained a humanoid form and became Swamp Thing guardian of the Green.
  • Zatanna Zatara (Camilla Luddington) - A sorceress and stage magician who is the daughter of the late Giovanni Zatara and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. The Zatara family have had a somewhat controversial reputation among the magical community for performing in front of crowds of mortals, believing that it could expose them before the right time. She is at the same time a highly renowned sorceress, serving alongside both the Justice League and the Fellowship.
  • John Constantine (Matt Ryan) - A chain smoking warlock and occult detective from Liverpool England who is usually based in London. Although cynical and something of a conman, Constantine is actually quite a compassionate humanitarian and as a genuine desire to make a positive impact on both the magical and mortal worlds. He is also a an occasional ally of the Fellowship, although he can sometimes irate them.
  • Joker (Mark Hamill) - A clown based supervillain from Gotham City who is the archenemy of Batman and an occasional ally of the Fellowship. He was once apparently a struggling stand-up comedian who was trying to support his pregnant wife by reluctantly turning to crime, however an encounter with Batman resulted in him falling into a vat of chemicals which left him with chalk white skin, ruby red lips and lime green hair. The Jokers personality can range from either a harmless prankster to a utter madman.
  • Two-Face (Troy Baker) - A supervillain obsessed with duality from Gotham City whose one of Batman's deadliest enemies and an occasional enemy of the Fellowship. Once Gotham's kindhearted district attorney and one of Batman's strongest allies, Dent was left brutally scarred when a mafia don he was prosecuting threw a vital of acid at him face, leaving his left side brutally scarred. Driven mad, Dent became obsessed with duality and chance, using a double headed coin to decide whether his victims live or die.
  • Catwoman (TBA) - A skilled cat burglar from Gotham City who is an enemy of Batman and an occasional enemy of the Fellowship. Unlike many of Batman's enemies, she is neither particularly villainous or violent, more like an anti-hero. She is also the on and off love interest of Batman, although neither will fully pursue a relationship until the other either goes straight or joins the other.
  • Penguin (Nolan North) - A supervillain from Gotham City who is an enemy of Batman and an occasional enemy of the Fellowship. Known for his obsession with birds and umbrellas, Cobblepot is one of Batman's few sane enemies and even calls himself the "Gentleman of Crime". He runs a popular nightclub in Gotham City known as the Iceberg Lounge, which he also uses as a front for his criminal activities. He also occasionally teams up with both Joker and Two-Face, calling them the Terrible Trio.
  • Lex Luthor (Clancy Brown) - A unscrupulous businessman and tycoon from Metropolis who is the owner of LexCorp and the archenemy of Superman. He seeks to ride of the world of Superman, claiming that he seems him as a threat to the human race and desires to protect people from him. But in truth is due to him being jealous of the popularity and influence that Superman generates, this jealousy also extends to the Fellowship.
  • Darkseid (Michael Ironside) - An all-powerful New God who is the tyrannical ruler of the hellish world of Apokolips who is an occasional enemy of the Fellowship. Darkseid's main goal is to seek the Anti-Life Equation, a formula that according to legend would grant whoever wields it the power to rule over all sentient minds and thus take over the entire universe.

Magical beings/The 14[]

  • Sorcerers/Sorceresses (Humans) - Human men and women who are born with the ability to perform magical spells and incantations. A sorcerer/sorceresses magical abilities first begin to show their 10th birthday, after which they begin their magical training which lasts for a whole decade, finishing on their 20th birthday.
    • Wizards - Mortal men and women who gain the magical arts either from a mentor or a spellbook. Wizards are considered to be very important individuals among the magical community as back in the years prior to the purge, when the magical and mortal worlds coexisted, wizards were important for building good relations between the two communities.
    • Witches - Female individuals who practice witchcraft, which is considered to be the most evilest form of black magic. Witches are considered to be social pariahs among the magical community as it was because of witches, that many mortals believed magic evil and that sorcerers/sorceresses were dangerous.
  • Elves - A race of magical humanoids who are the oldest of the 14. Elves are completely identical to humans except for their trademark pointed ears, pale skin, immortality and perpetual youth. An elf's eternal youth comes from the "Ceasing", a mysterious process that causes an elf to stop aging completely
    • Half-Elves - A magical humanoid who is born from a union between a human father and an elf mother. Half-Elves are distinguished from full elves by having shorter pointed ears and with the men being able to grow bears.
  • Dwarves - A race of short and stocky magical humanoids who are the most advanced of the 14 races. Dwarves live in mighty fortress cities located beneath the mountains of the world and are known for their legendary skills in metallurgy and craftsman ship, forging swords and axes that both never loos their sharp and are practically indestructible.
  • Orcs - A race of intelligent but brutish and aggressive magical humanoids who are known for being fierce warriors and for serve evil kings and sorcerers in their armies as foot soldiers, but despite this they aren't truly evil. Despite their reputation, orcs do have a code of honor and are strongly devoted to their tribes and families.
  • Goblins - A race of lanky and nimble magical humanoids. Goblins have large batlike ears, flat noses, pointed teeth and either green or red skin. Goblins are known throughout the magical community for being highly skilled thieves and assassins and for being notoriously mischievous.
  • Trolls - A race of large and hulking magical humanoids who are the largest and strongest of the 14 races. Trolls are known for their great strength but low intelligence, being relatively easy to dub. Trolls are also known for their incredible regenerative abilities, being able to regrow lost limbs or even bodies anywhere from a few days to two weeks.
  • Faeries - A race of magical humanoids who are among the only two members of the 14 who can fly. Like elves, faeries are identical to humans except for their trademark insect like wings and sometimes glittering skin.
  • Dark Elves - A race of sinister and ruthless magical humanoids. Close cousins of normal elves, dark elves are violet skinned and white haired, but like normal elves, also have a "Ceasing". Dark Elves are known for being traditionally allies with orcs and goblins, with some even forming tribes, marrying and having children with the former.
  • Satyrs - A race of magical goatlike humanoids. Satyrs are almost identical to humans except for having the horns' ears, legs and tail of a goat. Similar to their portrayal in mortal folklore, satyrs are known for their love of music and dancing, however instead of being lustful, they are a deeply spiritual people with many serving as druids.
  • Leprechauns - A race of magical humanoids who are shorter than dwarves but taller than halflings. Known for their skills in cobbling, leprechauns are known their association with good luck which as given birth to the phrase, "as lucky as a leprechaun".
  • Halflings - A race of magical humanoids are the shortest of the 14 races. Halflings are known for their preferring the the comforts of home that go going on adventures, stating that such things would, "make one late for dinner".
  • Centaurs - A race of magical humanoids with the upper torso of a human and the lower body of a horse. Although mostly a nomadic race, some centaurs have found a place where they can permanently settle. Centaurs are also known for their skills in astronomy and divination, being able to read the stars and foresee the future.
  • Drakes - A race of magical humanoids who resemble anthropomorphic dragons. Despite this similar appearance and even possessing the ability to breath fire, drakes and dragons aren't even closely related. Drakes are also master craftsman, being the only one of the 14 whose skill can rival that of the dwarves.
  • Glutts - A race of magical sluglike humanoids who resemble the Hutts from Star Wars. Glutts have a reputation for being the most disgusting race in the magical world, being able to eat fresh and rotten food, live mice and rats to even excrement. Glutts are also known for being involved in the criminal underworld as crime bosses.

Magical creatures[]

  • Dragons - A group of large and powerful winged magical reptilian beasts who are also known for their trademark ability to breath fire. Dragons are known for being the most powerful and oldest of all the magical creatures, being there when the Allfather created the Earth. Almost most dragons are wise and benevolent, there are some who are evil.
  • Unicorns - Magical white horses with their trademark golden horn protruding from their foreheads. Once widespread, unicorns were tragically hunted to near extinction for their horn, the alicorn, which had been long known for being able to cure a variety of illnesses and even render poison harmless.
  • Sea Serpents - Large and dangerous magical serpentine reptiles that dwell in the seas and oceans of Earth. Considered to be the "scourge of the seven seas and five oceans", sea serpents would wrap themselves around any ship they see and then constrict it, crush it to splinters and then devouring the helpless sailors in the water.

  • Hollows Grove - A (fictitious) town located in Massachusetts with a long history of magic that dates back to when it was first settled.
    • Hollows Grove Police Department - The police force for the town of Hollows Grove. Ryan Carter is its chief while Rick Johnson and Carl Swaddle serve it as detectives.
    • Hollows Grove High School - A high school located in Hollows Grove where James, Julia, Aldrin, Ciarda and later Matt go for their non-magical education.
    • O'Clery House - A house located in Hollows Grove that is the home of James, Matt, Simon, Margaret and Trevor. It is a normal two story house with four bedrooms, three bathrooms,
    • The Royal Elf Palace - A large palace located in the woods around Hollows Grove and concealed by a magical spell. It is the home of King Alrich, Julia and Aldrin Greenleaf.
      • Council Chambers - A council chamber located in the Royal Elf Palace that is the meeting place for the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings.
    • The Laughing Dragon - A tavern located in Hollows that is owned and run by the halfling Proudfoot. It is where the Fellowship mostly hang out after their adventures.
    • The Unseen Mall - A magical shopping mall located in Hollows Grove that is concealed by a magical spell like the Royal Elf Palace. Despite being mostly magical, it operates like any other shopping mall, having various shops and even a food court.
  • Dwelfheim - A dwarf kingdom located under the Rocky Mountains in Colorado that is ruled by Lord Stonebeard.
  • Castle Dark - A grim and foreboding castle that is the base and home of Arawn and many of his minions. Formerly located in Scotland, it was moved to North America by a billionaire who was unaware of its history. When Arawn returned, he tracked it down to America and, after killing the billionaire who was hosting his daughters wedding there, reclaimed it as his home and base.
  • Gotham City - A city located along the Eastern American seaboard in the state of New Jersey that is the home of Batman and many of his allies and enemies.
    • Arkham Home for the Emotionally Troubled - An asylum located in Gotham where many of Batman's including Joker and Two-Face are sent after they're caught. Unlike many incarnations, the building is a more modern facility that actually tries and cure the mentally ill.
    • Gotham City Police Department - The police force of Gotham City whose commissioner is James Gordon.
    • Iceberg Lounge - A popular nightclub in Gotham City that is also the base of operations for the Penguin.
    • Wayne Enterprises - A large multinational company located in Gotham City that is owned and run by Bruce Wayne.
    • Wayne Manor - A large and stately manor house located outside of Gotham City that was built in the mid-18th century. It is the home of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, his butler Alfred Pennyworth and Bruce's two wards, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
      • Bat-Cave - A large cavern located beneath Wayne Manor that is the headquarters of Batman and his partners. It is where the Batmobile is kept, along with Bat-Computer and different Batsuit's.
  • Metropolis - A city located along the Eastern American seaboard in the state of Delaware that is the home of Superman and many of his allies and enemies.
    • Daily Planet - A major newspaper where Superman works at under his alias as Clark Kent. It's editor-in-chief is the stern but fair Perry and it is where Superman's love interest Lois Lane and his best friend Jimmy Olsen also work at.
    • LexCorp - A multinational company located in Metropolis that is owned by Superman's archenemy Lex Luthor.
  • Themyscira - A hidden island that is the home of the female Amazon warriors and whose ruler is Queen Hippolyta. Also known as Paradise Island, Themyscira was the home of Wonder Woman, until she left for the outside world.
  • Cemetery of the Dragons - A mysterious and hidden valley located somewhere in Europe that according to legend is where dragons go to die. Whether it actually exists is unknown as dragons refuse to tell and those who actually do know of its location refuse to say out of respect for the dragons.
  • Goblinhalla - A kingdom of goblins that is ruled by King Hobgoblin located under the Appalachian Mountains. Once a magnificent kingdom of dwarves, it came under attack from hordes of goblins during the Goblin Wars, although the dwarves fought bravely, they were ultimately defeated and the survivors driven out.

In medieval Scotland, 986 A.D., a army of humans (sorcerer and mortal), elves, dwarves, faeries, satyrs, leprechauns, halflings, centaurs and drakes led by the good sorcerer, Fionn O’Clery rages war against the evil and powerful sorcerer, Arawn the Wraith King and his vast army of orcs, goblins, trolls, dark elves, glutts and witches. Eventually after 10 long and bitter years of war, the final battle of the war takes place in front of Arawn’s fortress of Castle Dark where Fionn confronts him along with his loyal troll Trevor, Elf King Alrich Greenleaf and the wise Great Dragon. After a long and fearsome duel, Fionn triumphs and banished Arawn, his servant Croaker and many of his witches to the void for eternity, but not before declaring that he will return to seek revenge on Fionn’s descendants. However due to a combination of both Arawn’s actions and the destruction from the war, the mortals are left fearful of the magical community and end up turn on them. The mortal monarch King Erik launches a genocidal campaign, during which many sorcerers are persecuted and killed and many magical creatures are hunted, some to extinction. However a group of mortals led by Erik’s sister, Princess Katherine, remained friends with the magical community and helped them to escape into hiding. Princess Katherine and the mortals then formed the Order of Druids, a secret society who keep the magical community’s existence secret until they feel are ready to return.
2. The Quest Begins pt. 2 2.
1’000 years later in 1986, Arawn and his witches escape from the void, with Arawn fully intending to finish what he started and to have his revenge on Fionn’s descendants. 27 years later in 2013, in the (fictitious) American town of Hollows Grove, young sorcerers apprentice James O’Clery and his younger brother Matt, direct descendants of Fionn O’Clery are training with their paternal grandparents, Simon and Margaret when they receive a summons from the Council of Sorcerers and Magical Beings. After arriving at the Royal Elf Palace, James meets his childhood love and best friend, Julia and Aldrin who are King Alrich Greenleaf’s children and the princess and prince of the elves. During the meeting with the council, everyone attending is horrified to learn of Arawn’s escape, particularly Simon and Margaret who deeply worried that he’ll come after James and Matt. Later that night, James lies in bed thinking of the days events before deciding on something. Next morning, whilst having breakfast, James informs him of his intent to fight Arawn and his forces. Simon and Margaret are shocked by this announcement and refuse to let him do so, however James reveals that he won’t be fight him alone, rather he intends to form a Fellowship.
3. The Quest Begins pt. 3 3.
James explains his plan of forming a Fellowship, consisting of himself and several others to fight against Arawn and his forces. Simon and Margaret still refuse to allow him to lead the Fellowship, however the Great Dragon is able to convince them to allow him to lead it as his heart is set on it, to which Simon and Margaret reluctantly accept and allow James to form and lead his Fellowship. Meanwhile Arawn meets with the orc Warchief Grimskull, his former dark elf warlord Bolverk Blackheart and embittered mortal war veteran Henry Brown, with the intention of recruiting them as his generals. Bolverk and Henry accept without hesitation, however Grimskull is uncertain due his people’s involvement last time result in them receiving the worst of King Erik’s purge, however he swears his loyalty after Arawn promises him that his tribe, who have fallen on hard times, will have new prosperous lives. After explaining his idea to the council, who then accept, James begins looking for members for his Fellowship, even recruiting Trevor as its first member and muscle. Heading to the Dwarven Kingdom of Dwelfheim where he meets with Lord Stonebeard and informs him of the Fellowship, Lord Stonebeard introduces him to Durin and Dain, a pair of dwarf warrior brothers. Impressed by their willingness to fight Arawn, James recruits them as members. A few days later, James has recruited three more members, a satyr bard named Hoofer, a fairy named Flutter to serve as the aerial scout and a benevolent dark elf named Ciarda to serve as the healer. Julia and Aldrin both want to join as members but their father refuses, however as before, the Great Dragon is able to convince him. Julia then joins as the Fellowships second in command and Aldrin as their researcher, also because he wants to get close to Ciarda.

Former cat burglar, Robert Johnson is released from prison after serving a 5 year sentence for refunding money that his former insurance company had illegally overcharged from its customers. Because of his criminal record, he is able to find a job, as a result he is forbidden to see his daughter Tammy by his ex-wife Charlotte, her police detective fiancée Carl Swaddle and his father Jim.

Whilst visiting a an exhibition on Celtic culture, the O’Clery’s see a quartet of bog bodies consisting of two boys and two girls. When showing the pictures to the Great Dragon, a solemn Great Dragon recognizes them as the bodies of his old friends Caden, Kyla, Fergus and Aslinn from the 1st century. When asked about them, the Great Dragon explains of their lives and his friendship with them, from their childhoods to being offered as human sacrifices shortly after their 20th birthdays by their tribe in a vain attempt to hold off the invasion by the Romans.
