Nightshadow is a superhero that uses gadgets and the environment to battle crime, using grapple guns, gases, grenades and other gadgets to stun enemies or use the mind of his enemies to create a shroud of fear.
Story
Becoming Nightshadow
When his home city was the target of a terrorist invasion, he was kidnapped to help build devices to aid the invasion. He used this to build some make-shift gadgets that helped him escape his prison, free all those that had been forced to build and delay the invasion. He also stole the terrorist flag ship. He used the delay to get word of the invasion to the government. He used the gadgets as prototypes and, using stolen parts from the terrorists, he built his paraphernalia.
Attracting Attention
With his new gadgets and a lot of courage, Nightshadow started clearing the streets of Sky City of crime. However this attracted the attention of the Order of the Arcane , a secret order dedicated to creating chaos. Sky City was a hotspot for crime and disorder, so when Nightshadow prevented the chaos in Sky City, the Order decided to send in their top assassin and sorcerer, Filius Mortis.
Filius Mortis and X248
At first Filius Mortis (known as Mortis), tried to attack Nightshadow head on, with a 'all guns blazing technique'. Mortis realised that this wasn't the way to go about taking Nightshadow down, so he reverted to the power that ran through his veins. He created spells and incantations that would kill any mere man. For some reason the spells and arcane creatures Mortis summoned were failing. So he created a creature from an image of himself (using a mirroring spell) an greatly enhanced it with magic and modern technology, but gave it one simple purpose; to destroy Nightshadow. This was X248.
The Justice League of America
After receiving a key to the city, Nightshadow managed to attract the attention of the Justice League of America. He was invited to join and he accepted. He would go on to become their leader once Superman took refuge in space during World War III. He gracefully offered the position back to Superman once the war was over. Kal-El took the position, and in exchange Superman entrusted Nightshadow with one Lex Luthor's Kryptonite rings. This made Nightshadow one the few people Superman entrusted with the power kill him, along with Bruce Wayne (as Batman), Lois Lane and Princess Diana (as Wonder Woman).

- Cheating Death
- Magic Resistance: This ability only concerns energy based attacks.
- Magic Disruption: His body disrupts magic closes near him.
Abilities
- Indomitable Will: Although he has no superhuman powers, Nightshadow's unstoppable determination and strength of will make him an extremely formidable opponent. This makes him able to function while tolerating massive amounts of physical pain, and also allows him to resist telepathy or mind control.
- Intimidation: Nightshadow has the ability to instill fear in others.
- Interrogation: Nightshadow is adept in interrogation techniques, often using law enforcement methods as well as torture. Several methods seen include hanging a person over the edge of a building by one leg or chaining a person upside down and beating them. He usually just plain uses his frightening appearance to get answers. He was tortured by terrorists himself and learned from them before his escape.
- Peak Human Condition: Through intense training, specialized diet, and biofeedback treatments, Nightshadow represents the pinnacle of human physical prowess. His physical attributes exceeded that of any Olympic level athlete that has ever completed.Strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes and coordination are at peak human perfection. Nightshadow began his physical and mental conditioning after he escaped years of imprisonment and then intense physical training and weightlifting. He has mastered full body control by the time he was 23.
- Peak Human Strength: Nightshadow regularly bench-presses at least 1000 lbs. during his exercise routine.
- Peak Human Reflexes: Nightshadow's reflexes were honed to such a degree that he has caught arrows in mid flight when enemies tried to shoot him. He has also been able to dodge point blank gunfire.
- Peak Human Speed: He could run at speeds comparable to the finest competing athletes.
- Peak Human Endurance: His endurance was comparable to that of the finest Olympic Decathlon participant. His lung capacity was so great that he could hold his breath underwater for 3 minutes and 15 seconds.
- Peak Human Agility: His agility was greater than that of a Chinese acrobat and an Olympic gold medalist gymnast. His main phase of movement was Parkour which he learned in France and used that to scale the cities rooftops in an acrobatic manner.
- Acrobatics: He is proficient in gymnastics and acrobatics.
- Martial Arts
- Stealth: He learn to be very quiet in after the Terrorist held him for years.
- Marksmanship: He is an expert marksman skilled. He is skilled with throwing projectile weapons, archery and firearms. He has been practicing such skills since the early days of his training and is almost on par with the Green Arrow and Batman in terms of accuracy.
- Genius Level Intellect
- Eidetic Memory: Nightshadow has total recall and can remember anything in great detail.
- Multilingualism: He is able to speak Spanish, French, Latin, German, Japanese, English, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek, Portuguese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi, Thai and possibly more.
- Tactical Analysis: He commonly utilizes cunning tactics to outwit his foes.
- Leadership: He is known for having great leadership.
