History
William Dent is the husband of the late Lucy Dent and the father of Taylor Wayne, Harvey Dent, and the late Murray Dent. William is a wealthy and successful businessman CEO of Dent Global Group, and was a prominent figure in Gotham City. However, he is secretly revealed to be the vigilante dubbed as Prometheus, otherwise dubbed as The Throwing Star Killer.
Biography
William Dent grew up as the son of Lester Dent and Eliza Dent in Old Gotham. As a teenager, William conspired with Rupert Thorne to kill his parents to collect the insurance money to fund Dent Global Group, and their criminal dealings continued well into their adult years after their lives have taken divergent turns. Eventually, William fell in love with a woman named Lucy.They both gave birth to Murray Dent and Harvey Dent. Murray Dent was Harvey's older brother. The two brothers had a tense relationship and Murray proved to be a temperamentally difficult child whose constantly misbehavior got Harvey in troubles. When Murray dared his brother to play with matches, the fire got out of control. Harvey couln't put the fire out, got scared and went into shock. Murray died as a result of the arson blaming his younger brother. This tragedy destroyed the Dent's family. Harvey's mother commited suicide and his father became alcoholic and violent, blaming also Harvey for Murray's death. Eventually William was stopped by Max the family butler and William felt so much shame that he left to train with Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assassins.
After the death of his wife, William had a brief affair with Martha in his grief who was deliberately cheating on Thomas out of spite with his best friend but William felt immense guilt for betraying Lucy's memory. However this encounter would result in the birth of their daughter Taylor, though William would be unaware of this for almost years. He found his way to the League of Assassin's headquarters and was brought before an 8 year old Nyssa al Ghul, member of the League of Assassins, whilst she trained but she immediately believed him to be the League's next victim, but William clarified and told her he wasn't there to fight her but to train. As Nyssa demanding explanation William performed the same coin trick on her and impressed her, she gave him a new name for the League, "Al Sa-Her" (The Magician).
He served with them for two years and was trained by Al-Owal under supervision of the League's leader Ra's al Ghul, who guided him and helped him see the world for how cruel it truly was, helping him find purpose. He was trained in all manner of combat, including the ability to withstand immense pain After training and serving with them for two years, he became the first person to ever be released, on condition that he follow the League's codes. As a result of his time with them, William also became more calculating.
William began to use his position as CEO of Dent Global Group for evil purposes as he started to do unethical experiments. He was responsible for trying to revive Project Avalon which brought him into conflict with Rupert Thorne. He is also the vigilante known as Prometheus would only appear if anyone stood in William's way of progress. William has many enemies in the criminal underworld and a not very good relationship with his son Harvey, who is now Gotham's district attorney. They haven't spoken ever since the events where William disappeared for a while and when Rupert Thorne tried to revive Project Avalon. William also is currently training Taylor Wayne in Corto Maltese while Bruce Wayne is still looking for his half sister.

Peak Human Condition: William is in top physical condition for a man of his age due his training with the League of Assassins. William has admitted however, that due to his youth Bruce is faster than him.
- League of Assassins training: William has gone through the training that all members of League of Assassins do. William was considered to be one of the finest members of the League, enough that he became Ra's al Ghul's Horseman, his right hand man.

- Expert archer: Like Olive Queen, William is a trained archer although his exact level is unknown due to his preference for throwing weapons. However, he is skilled enough to shoot arrows to either wound or kill his targets, uses it as a improvised quarter-staff like Oliver.
- Expert swordsman: William is trained in the art of swordsmanship, often using his sword fighting skills in conjunction with his melee skills; his exact level as a swordsman is unknown.
- Master marksman/Knife-thrower: William is an incredibly skilled marksman who is highly proficient in throwing weapons such as knives, battle axes, flechettes and his weapon of choice; shuriken. He was able to disarm a thug while jumping.
- Free-running/Acrobatics: William is able to move and scale down walls with great dexterity and grace, even while throwing his shurikens.
- Indomitable Will/High Pain Tolerance: Wiliam has a high tolerance to pain as he barely flinched after being shot in the shoulder with a bullet and was still able to move his arm normally even when the wound reopened.
- Intimidation: William possesses an intimidating presences due to his ruthlessness with anyone who displeased him; his killings as the "Throwing Star Killer" combined with media rumors and his presence was enough to cause a city wide panic.
- Expert interrogator/Torturer: William was shown to be skilled in various torture techniques, both physical and psychological, which he used to emotionally break Bruce Wayne.
- Master tactician/Manipulator: William is a highly effective tactician, with his tactics against Bruce being at a psychological level, as he was able to successfully trick Bruce into killing detective Jason Bard knowing that Bruce came after Prometheus with the intent to kill him. William is also very manipulative.
- Skilled metalsmith: William is able to design his own weapons such as shurikens.
- Stealth: William is highly skilled in the art of stealth, as he is able to sneak in or appear to people fairly quickly without them noticing.
- Multilingualism: William is capable of speaking English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Arabic.
- Network: William has a dense network of information throughout Starling City and Gotham City, including the coroner's office which is how Harvey believes he faked his death.
- Ocult knowledge: William is aware of the existence of magic and mysticism, knowing the existence of the Lazarus Pit.
- Toxicology: William was able to use votura to create a drug that made Taylor kill Selina without remembering it.

- Prometheus suit: William wears a protective suit as Prometheus, to hide his identity from his victims.
- Voice filter: William apparently uses a voice filter in his mask to conceal his true identity and making him sound almost unrecognizable as Prometheus.

- Shurikens: William carries Shurikens strapped to his abdomen, usually no more than six at a time. These appear to be his preferred method of killing his victims.
- Quiver: William carries a black arrow container, to carry his arrows with him.

- Throwing knives: William carries several smaller and easily concealable throwing knives.

Interesting facts
- In DC comics, Prometheus is an alias used by multiple villains, most famously by an unnamed one that pushed Green Arrow past his limits. The Knight of Gotham's version of the character is not based on the Grant Morrison character.
- He is the doppelganger of the Earth 1 character Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman). It's possible that there are other doppelgangers in the multiverse with different names.
