History[]
The son of amateur boxer, turned trainer, Henry Grant, and a mother he never knew, since right after he was born she ran off, since she didn't want the responsibility of raising a child, Ted Grant (born January, 1952) had always been apart of the boxing world. From a young age he began learning the art of boxing with enthusiasm, though that didn't help him much during his childhood years. For then he was a very scrawny and short kid, made an easy target for the older bullies in his neighborhood. Despite this Ted never ran away from a fight. But that led him to constantly getting beat up. In particular one time when he was nine years old and he was made to fight an older neighborhood kid named Billy, who not only knocked him unconscious, but also knocked out his front teeth. Still, no matter how bad things got or how thought his opponent was Ted always got back up. This perseverance, along many growth spurts and eventually proper boxing training, allowed Ted to climb the ranks of the professional boxing world when he was old enough to enter it, and eventually this led him to become a world-class heavyweight boxing champion. Who won his first title at 21 years old, only two years after he stepped into the professional boxing scene.
But after winning his title things took a sharp turn for Ted. Without any knowledge of it he found himself involved in a criminal plot crafted by his then managers, Flint and Skinner, who attempted to fix one of Ted's matches and drugged his opponent "Socker" Smith. However the two got the drug dosage wrong and Socker died as a result during the match. Now faced with a serious crime the pair decided to frame Ted for their actions. Leading to his subsequent arrest. Where no one believed Ted's claim to his innocence of the crime save for one officer. The detective assigned to the case, Richard Drake. Who worked until he found the evidence needed to exonerate Ted and incriminate the real criminals, Flint and Skinner. The pair panicking even further when they heard the news. Leading them to try and flee before they were arrested, but not before putting a hit out on Ted due to their misguided anger towards him. A hit which he managed to survive, however his father was not so lucky. Faced with the sudden death of his father, and knowing who was responsible, Ted became filled with the need for vengeance. So he worked and tracked down Flint and Skinner himself. But remember all the lessons his father always taught him about honor and being a good man instead of dealing out his own brand of justice he turned the pair over to the authorities. After which he began noticing others in similar situations to his own, and so deciding he simply couldn't stand by and watch this happen Ted began helping those that couldn't help themselves. Taking inspiration from his father, who had always referred to him as a "wild cat" in the ring Ted designed a feline-based costume and took on the alternate persona of Wildcat. He then began his career as a hero, allowing his fist to get justice for those who couldn't get it themselves.
