I think I'm the only person who makes these, heck I think I'm the only person who edits this wiki frequently.
Anyway, as you know tomorrow is Halloween (at least when I wrote this article) and this is my recommended reading list for Halloween featuring some of DCs scariest stories and Halloween specials. This is limited to ones I've read however.
Blackest Night may not be particularly terrifying or chilling, but it does have a lot of zombie punching action. There are so many tie ins, it would be hard to read everything that has to do with this event, but reading the core series should be just enough to enjoy it. The story is essentially there are these dark Lantern rings going around and animating the corpses of deceased DC characters. It is written by Geoff Johns who is great at writing epic crossovers, but still this isn't that scary a story
Death of the Family[]
Now THIS is creepy, you'll want to read Detective Comics Vol 2 1 first before reading it, but it is not completely necessary. The story is as follows: Joker dissappeared for a year leaving only his face (which was cut off) behind. Now he's back wearing his cut off face as a gruesome mask, and has come for all of Batman's allies. I reccomend reading the main story first, followed by the tie ins.
Of course after this, you'll want to read the follow up...
Endgame[]
After what happened in Death of the Family, (I won't spoil) the Joker has returned again, and this time its a no holds barred epic fight against Batman to the death. This collection contains the main story and tie-ins.
Dark Knight, Dark City[]
This story starts off as a simple riddler story, except for the fact that Riddler is way more violent than usual. I won't tell you much more than that, except that it heavily influenced the character of Doctor Hurt.
Identity Crisis[]
People are starting to become suddenly violent around Gotham, its up to Batman to find out why, but can he handle it alone, or will he need the help of a new Robin to survive.
